NEW #Storyscore™️

Social media for Schools

Have you ever wondered how well your school is doing on social media? Are you focussed on just the ‘likes’, or do you care about the breadth of your story, quality, and whether or not you are truly living into your school values?

As the leading creative storytelling agency for schools in the world, we care about every story, shared by every person, at every school, on any social media platform, ever! (Wow, that’s a lot of caring!) How do you measure your overall storytelling success, and benchmark against other schools?

In order to shine a light on what is meaningful on social media, we decided to get our data scientists and technical analysts to pull every platform apart, and then throw it into a blender with our social media expertise and strategy. The #StoryScore™️ Rating Algorithm was born.

What is a #StoryScore™️ Rating?

The #StoryScore™ Rating is a numeric value between 0 and 100 based on an intelligent weighting of useful data points. The higher the score, the better the ranking. But how is it calculated?

We are not keeping this a secret [SEE DIAGRAM], as we want schools to work on their storytelling & content strategy and really engage with their community. For this first release, we are only ranking schools on Twitter and Instagram.

We will be exploring the different ingredients to the #StoryScore™️ Rating Algorithm in more detail, but for now your school should be caring about the following to boost your score:

  1. Hashtag in Bio. If you do not have a relevant hashtag (#BrandedHashtag preferred of course) in your social media bios, you will quickly miss out on an easy 3% towards your score!

  2. Engagement Rate. Look at how many followers you have on each platform, then on average how many of them like what you are posting? Time to cleanse your followers, or post better content.

  3. Hashtag Rate. We love a good hashtag (#BrandedHashtag preferred of course), as they bring relevancy, context and discoverability to your posts. Are you using these on every post?

  4. Values Rate. How many of your posts include any of your school values? Or are they just empty words on your website or poster in the school reception? Start using them, and living in to what you stand for!

  5. Story Rate. How often do you post, and what is your ‘posting per pupil ratio’? Bigger schools should be sharing more content.
